What We Do And Why It Matters
Golf can feel unpredictable, but it’s not random. Every course suits a certain kind of player, and strokes gained stats help us figure out who. That’s where Pinseeker comes in, a model built on real data and player profiles to show you who fits the course and why. It’s not about hype or momentum. It’s about finding the players who match what wins.
Who Is This For?
Pinseeker is for golf fans like me who want to understand it a little more deeply. If you play fantasy, bet on matchups, follow the PGA Tour, or just find yourself wondering why certain players always seem to show up at certain courses, you’re in the right place. This is for fans who like thinking about the game, not just watching it. You don’t need to be a stats expert. We’ll show you what matters each week and why.
How It Works
Every course on the PGA Tour rewards a different kind of player. Some demand precision off the tee, others reward elite iron play or strong putting. Pinseeker uses strokes gained data to figure out what types of players succeed at each event. We start by looking at how top finishers in previous years gained their strokes across all four key categories: off the tee, approach, around the green, and putting. From that, we build an ideal player profile for the course. Then we compare every player in the current field to that profile using multiple similarity models. The result is a ranked list of players whose game shapes match what has historically worked at that specific course.
Every week, we’ll share the Pin Sheet: a full model breakdown for that week’s PGA Tour event, featuring the course’s ideal strokes gained profile, our top player matches, and a quick look at why those players fit so well. You’ll also get insights on potential sleepers, fades, and how the model performed after each event, plus content aimed at making the sport more accessible to everyone.
Whether you’re here to build better DFS lineups, bet smarter, or just gain a clearer understanding of the game, you’ll find something valuable in every post.
